A Masters in Teaching (MAT) and a Masters in Education are sometimes used interchangeable by some people. Even though they are very similar, they are also a bit different.

Masters in Education

Masters in education online programs are designed more for people who are looking to get into careers that are within the education field, but not necessarily preparing you to become a teacher. Masters in Teaching

People who go the route of obtaining a masters in teaching often aim to become some sort of instructor or teacher with titles such as K-12 Elementary Teacher, College Instructor, Special Education Teacher or TESOL Teacher.

With the advance in technology, colleges and universities are able to provide quality distance learning courses to accommodate busy professionals who are often already working full time within the educational field, typically as teachers, who are looking to advance within the educational field either to get a higher salary or just prepare themselves for a new challenge.

When searching for an online MAT program, ensure that the school is accredited by a recognized body. These may include, CHEA, or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. These two are recognized bodies that recognizes over 5,000 colleges within the country in the education field.
